A COMEDY SHOW:
created by and for black women
A bad bitch once said, “I’ll do it myself!” These were the words that motivated producer and host Nicole Phoenix back in 2018. With less than a year of standup comedy under her belt, she couldn’t help but notice that she was almost always the only Black woman performing on a lineup OR in the audience. She knew that there was a need. A need to create a space where Black women could share their stories, laugh their asses off, and ultimately dabble in the fine art of bad bitchery.
Very soon after, The Comments Section: Standup & Storytelling was created. It is the longest-running standup comedy show in Philadelphia dedicated to celebrating the voices of Black women in comedy.
